CISK Elementary Students Visit Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, Explore Career Paths

On April 16th, nearly 100 students from Grades 1-5 of Canadian International School Kunshan (CISK) visited Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. This event broadened the students' horizons, providing them with a new understanding of future careers, adding new possibilities to their life paths.

CISK, established in 2012, is the only international school in the Kunshan area officially approved by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education with a foreign-related school license. The school teaches in English and follows the International Baccalaureate curriculum framework from kindergarten to high school.

In the morning, the students visited the Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University Museum, exploring the Civil Engineering Lab, Design and Manufacturing Lab, and Industrial Design Lab of the Design School. While witnessing the charm of modern technology, they learned about various experimental equipment and creative principles.

During the lab visit, the students not only observed the operation of the experimental equipment carefully but also actively asked questions to the lab teachers, demonstrating their curiosity and thirst for scientific knowledge.

After the visit, Dr. Marco Cimillo, Academic Vice Dean of the Design School, gave a welcoming speech and led the students to understand the characteristics and direction of the Design School through videos and quizzes.

Eoin Thomas Marsh, the Elementary CCA Coordinator from CISK, said, "I believe education is built on 'connections.' We are honored to be able to visit XJTLU for this field trip, hoping it will inspire our students to bravely explore their future paths."

Students actively shared their feelings and knowledge gained from today's field trip, demonstrating their active thinking skills and expressive abilities.

In the afternoon, the students were divided into three groups to participate in explorations on different themes. From the "Clothespin Architecture Creative Workshop" to "Concrete Mixing and Water Flow Patterns," and finally the "Self-Discovery Collage Journey," the students utilized their imaginations and creativity, experiencing the joy and charm of design.

Ella, a fourth-grade student from CISK, said, "I really enjoyed the hands-on collage activity. This event gave me a clearer understanding of the design industry, and I want to become an artist and pianist in the future."
