Lantern Festival Celebration

Today, CISK students and teachers celebrate the Chinese Lantern Festival and Chinese New Year together.

Students are encouraged to understand Chinese customs and build up a passion of traditional Chinese culture through participating in all kinds of activities at the celebration.

今天，我校举办了迎新年闹元宵活动，校园里一片喜庆祥和的节日气氛。

一大早，孩子们身着中国传统服装来到学校，收到了来自学校领导老师的红包和祝福。

CISK的学生们通过参与丰富的传统活动来体验和感受中国传统文化，进一步了解了中国传统节日的风俗习惯。

Students from Grade 3 to 12 designed the game stations such as: Cuju, Pitch-Pot, Chinese Yoyo, Spinning Top, Iron Hop Rolling, Chinese Ring Puzzle to allow their younger friends to experience traditional Chinese games.

This celebration, led by students, shows the spirit of IB education: to develop internationally minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world.

不同的班级设置了不同的中国传统游戏站，比如：蹴鞠、投壶、空竹、陀螺、射箭、九连环、套圈、滚铁环等。

这是一次学生领导的学校大型活动，不仅给不同年级的同学们一次体验传统游戏的机会，更是体现了IB国际文凭教育项目的培养目标：培养具有国际情怀的世界公民。

It’s a traditional Chinese custom that people write couplets and post them on doors on Chinese New Year.

Students wrote the couplets and the Chinese character “Fu”. Unique to the Chinese New Year, Chinese knots and Chinese paper-cuts made by students carry wishes and expectations from them towards the upcoming New Year.

每到新年，写春联和贴春联是中国的传统年俗。无联不成春，有联春更浓。

同学们跃跃欲试，学着写春联和写福字，为校园生活增添一抹春意。他们制作的中国结和剪纸，作为独具中国特色的新年元素，承载着他们对新年的祝福和期盼。

In the Chinese Lantern Festival Gala, Grade 10, Grade 11 and Grade 12 students performed the traditional dragon dance. The dragon dance is an excellent folk art of China and we often see it at festival celebrations or gathering ceremonies.

Students’ diversified performances impressed all the audience. They have prepared not only the traditional Chinese dance, but also hip-hop dance and modern dance.

下午的闹元宵联欢会，由十、十一、十二年级的同学们带来的舞龙表演开场。舞龙是我国优秀的传统民间艺术，每逢佳节或集会庆典，民间都以舞龙来助兴。

同学们为联欢会准备的节目丰富多样，既包含中国传统舞蹈，又包含街舞、现代舞；既有经典歌曲大合唱，又有现代流行歌曲演唱，让我们眼前一亮，不禁赞叹孩子们的表演天赋。

They sang classical songs as well as pop songs. The Chinese-style fashion show from all grades pushed the festive atmosphere to the climax. This ancient and modern combination ceremony fully demonstrated the talent of CISK students.

The activity enabled students to learn traditional cultural knowledge, and experience cultural atmosphere which deepened their understanding of traditional Chinese culture.

各年级的中国特色服装走秀，更是把节日氛围推向高潮。这次古代与现代结合的联欢会，充分展示出CISK学生的才艺和积极向上的精神面貌。

今年CISK迎新年庆元宵活动，让学生们学习了传统文化知识、体验了中国传统的节日氛围，同时还让学生们对传统文化有了更加深入的了解。
